Mural in a Box

The Commercial Arts mural allows people to express themselves through creative and visual means. Through the projects in the box, such as creating masks or a mural, immense stress is removed leaving with a sense of satisfaction. These tasks, while educational, are also soothing and relaxing. Children can learn things from teamwork to basic math while allowing people who have suffered trauma to share their feelings in a nonverbal way. Art is communication, it is a universal language that anyone can understand.

Materials:	How to Use Them:
Paint Brushes	Dip brushes into the paint in order to paint your murals. Use the different sizes of the brushes to paint both big or small areas of the surface.  For example, use the small brushes for small details on the masks like the eyes.
Paint	Use the paints to color in and detail your murals.
Canvas	This is where you’ll finish your final sketch and begin painting.
Rulers	To divide the pictures and proportion it to your canvas board in order to transfer them properly.
Pencils	To draw sketches out on scrap paper and canvas board before painting to plan your picture.
Pictures	To give a reference for your mural. This will be your guidelines throughout your project.

Mask	Masks are the surface you are decorating. You can use them to express how you feel or draw a design you like.
Yarn	The yarn can be used for hair or a beard, or anything that fits with your design.
Construction Paper	This document will be used when you draft the design you want to go to the mask.
Solar Panel	An alternate form of energy that uses the sun to provide electricity
